Quick Salsa Verde

Talluto's Sweet Basil Pesto sauce can be the "quick start" to an easy salsa verde. This salsa verde is a condiment consisting of fresh basil, fresh parsley, lemon, vinegar, capers, and olive oil. It can be used as an accompaniment to meat or fish. Customize this recipe using your favorite combination of fresh herbs from your garden.

What you will need:

4 oz Talluto's sweet basil pesto sauce, thawed
1 Tbsp red wine vinegar
1 Tbsp pure olive oil
2 Tbsps capers, chopped (in salt or brine)
1/2 large lemon, the juice of
1 Tbsp lemon zest, grated
1 Tbsp of chopped fresh parsley
2 Tbsps of chopped of other mixed fresh herbs (oregano, mint, chives)
1 pinch crushed red chili pepper flakes
1 tsp anchovy paste, optional

Quick Salsa Verde Directions

  1. Place the thawed pesto sauce in a small bowl.
  2. Gather the fresh herbs of your choice and gently chop them. Add them to the pesto sauce.
  3. Add the remaining ingredients and mix well. 
  4. Serve as a condiment or to accompany grilled meat or fish.
  5. Store in an air-tight container in the refrigerator for up to about 3 days.
